Welcome to our Governing Body

Welcome to the Governors' section of the website. The Governing Body at Harrington Junior School is made up of a dedicated team of parents, staff, and members of the local community. We work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to ensure our pupils receive a nurturing, ambitious, and high-quality education.

Our Role and Responsibilities

As school governors, our role is strategic rather than operational. We do not manage the day-to-day running of the school; instead, we act as a "critical friend" by providing both support and constructive challenge.

Our three core strategic functions are:

1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction.
2. Holding senior leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.
3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Through regular formal meetings, focused school visits, and analysing data, we monitor the school's progress, celebrate its successes, and help identify priorities for continuous improvement.
