URGENT COVID-19 update

JOINT STATEMENT FROM PARKLANDS INFANT AND NURSERY SCHOOL AND HARRINGTON JUNIOR SCHOOL.

You will be aware that Wilsthorpe School is currently closed due to the high number of positive COVID-19 cases. The situation is now very serious. The school is to remain closed until Tuesday 11th May and it has asked all pupils to self-isolate. Public Health are aware, as is Derbyshire County Council.
From tomorrow, a PCR testing site will be located at Wilsthorpe School and all pupils and their families have been requested to attend across the next 4 days to be tested between 9:30 and 5:30p.m. This will take the form of both drive-through and walk-in facilities.

This may mean that Harrington and Parklands pupils will need to attend for testing if they have a sibling at Wilsthorpe. TO ASSIST IN KEEPING POSITIVE CASES IN OUR SCHOOLS AS LOW AS POSSIBLE, WE ARE STRONGLY ADVISING THAT ANY PUPIL WITH A SIBLING ATTENDING WILSTHORPE SCHOOL DOES NOT ATTEND OUR SCHOOLS FROM TOMORROW UNTIL THEY HAVE COMPLETED THEIR PCR TEST AND A NEGATIVE RESULT HAS BEEN OBTAINED – USUALLY BETWEEN 1-3 DAYS. We would ask that you share the result with us so that we can get pupils back into school as soon as it is possible and safe to do so. These measures are to help prevent any further spread of coronavirus on our campus and within our community.

Even though this may have a large impact upon our school numbers we feel it is better to stay as safe as we can. We are truly hoping that parents will support this measure, even if it seems extreme, for the next 4 days.
These procedures are supported by both schools.
