Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Look out for our winter newsletter sent home today with lots of dates and information for you.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE.
Parklands and Harrington remained open today as usual, despite the cold and snowy conditions. However, the temperature has to be lower tomorrow (-1 at 9:00) and also on Thursday (-2 at 9:00).
Our aim is for school to stay open as long as it is safe to do so but we do have concerns that the ground is very wet from the melted snow and this could freeze overnight and create some difficult access conditions.
Mrs Callaghan and I have directed for a grounds check to be completed in the morning at 7:00a.m. to check that it remains safe to access the schools. The decision will be made jointly from both schools and shared with you as soon as we can in the morning.
Again, I will reiterate that it is our aim to remain open, if we are able to.
Welcome back to Harrington for Term 2.
As it turns colder and darker, a few reminders:
1. Parent lunch tomorrow for Year 3 and Year 6 family members - gates open at 11:45 - 12:05. Y3 families will be served at 11:45, Y6 at 12:00.
Family members should report to the main office to meet their child.
Gates close promptly at 12:05 and anyone who is late will need to access the school via Derby Road.
2. Please ensure your home collection arrangements are clear. We cannot let any pupils leave with persons that we do not know or we have not had your direct permission to allow to collect. Please ensure you ring school to let us know.
3. Attendance regulations have changed. All pupils will now receive a letter stating their attendance rate for last term. The target is 95% or above. These letters will be out this week.
4. School must be notified of any pupil who is to be absent with details as to the reason. Please send a dojo or call between 8:15-9:30.
5. The days are colder so please ensure your child comes in a coat. Gloves and a hat will be useful but please label all clothing items.
6. Inhalers - please check to ensure your child has an in-date inhaler and is bringing it to school every day. The movement between cold outdoors and warm classrooms can be a trigger for asthma issues. This also applies to Y5 swimmers on Fridays. Asthmatic pupils can be refused to swim if they do not have their inhaler with them in line with DCC regulations.
It's going to be a busy term so make sure you are keeping up-to-date with the dojo or news section on the website.
