Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Year 3,4 and 5 will commence their transition to their new teachers on the following dates:
Tuesday 8th July
Wednesday 9th July
Tuesday 15th July
Reminder is transition for Year 6 tomorrow! Details should have been sent to you via email. We are liaising with more than 1 school and all schools have different requirements.
As a quick summary, KS3 staff have informed me of the following for the 2 main transfer schools:
Wilsthorpe - It is 9.30-2.30 each day (Tue and Wed); please wear normal Harrington uniform; lunch is provided and parents were provided an online form or they can bring packed lunch; no PE kits are needed; staff will provide all equipment needed. I believe a water bottle would be useful too.
Long Eaton - It's 08:45 - 14:50 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please wear normal Harrington uniform; bring a water bottle and pencil case (2 pens - blue or black, pencil, rubber, ruler, pencil sharpener); a snack can be brought if they wish (no nuts at all though); lunch is provided on all three days, but you can bring a packed lunch if required.
Other schools will have sent their lists to the families concerned.
ALL CHILDREN NEED TO MAKE THEIR OWN WAY TO AND FROM SECONDARY SCHOOL. HARRINGTON STAFF DO NOT TAKE ANY PUPILS AS THIS IS AN INDEPENDENT SERIES OF TASTER DAYS FOR TRANSFER.
NO PUPIL SHOULD RETURN TO HARRINGTON AT THE END OF THE DAY.
Good luck to you all!
Just a reminder that this afternoon is due to be our sports day for Year 5 and 6 - the weather is due stay sunny but mild, with cloud which should dry the field from last night's rain. Please can the children come in their PE Kits, with water bottles and hats to keep themselves safe this afternoon. Please apply suncream.
We will be starting at 1:30pm, there will be staff at the gate to direct you to where parents can watch from - we suggest you bring a rug or foldable chair to sit on.
Many thanks.
Well done Year 6 - I hope you had a fantastic time at White Hall.
A big thank you to Mr Capewell, Mrs Jones, Miss Surla and Mr Armstrong for giving the children a wonderful residential experience.
Many thanks for providing 24hour care and support for the Year 6 children - and your photos show what a great time was had by all!
This week our Year 6 pupils created some fantastic theme park ideas in their activities over the past three days. We are extremely proud of the work they produced to design their own theme park: Time Chase Adventure Theme Park!
They also bravely took to some cookery lessons, having great fun designing and cooking their own pizzas and bread.
We were due to host our Year 3 and Year 4 sports day tomorrow afternoon. However, due to the weather warning of extreme heat and high sun/pollen and UV levels (26-27 degrees) we are having to cancel this. The field has no shade and we cannot run the risk of sun burn to pupils and adults or potential heat stroke.
This is clearly not what we would have hoped for but feel that it is unwise to run this event. Our reserve date has already been set and disclosed on our newsletter as being Thursday 3rd July.
Apologies for any inconvenience but we wanted to give the most notification possible.
On Wednesday 2nd July, Year 5 are stepping back in time for a special WW2-themed day! Children are welcome to come dressed as evacuees, soldiers, land girls, or in any 1940s-inspired outfit.
It’s a great opportunity to bring history to life and support our learning in a fun and meaningful way.
