Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Please find a new document entitled 'Useful Information for Parents' on your class page for Year 2. This may answer many of your questions about the day-to-day running of school and what is needed.
Please ensure you cross check this with the latest newsletter about the reopening of school in September as this details some of the necessary changes to procedure due to Coronavirus.
The school calendar has been updated with key dates for your diary, including Inset days.
You can also find information under the 'Parents' tab, clicking on 'Opening Times' to find term dates for this next and next.
To find out if you meet the criteria for your child to receive free school meals you can find out by googling 'Derbyshire County Council free school meals'.
This will take you to site where you can see all the information about which payments are valid. Half way down you can apply online.
Staff have been busy over the last week attending meetings and moving items to begin our preparations for our September return.
The orders are arriving, full of new resources for our children.
The builders are now at stage 2 of the finishing programme, with floors and the air conditioning units going in. The services are being linked to our new temporary school and everything is going to plan. Stage 3 will be a close inspection to create a snagging list. The final stage will be a big clean - inside and out!
I had a site meeting last week to have a tour of the premises to see how much work has been completed. It looks fantastic so far - still work to do but we will get there!
Next week we will be sending out communication from the class teacher to help you prepare your child for their return to school. It will be extremely beneficial to look at this advice and complete the tasks to help your child get back into the swing of school life. We recognise that some pupils have not been in school since March - it will be 24 weeks since they were last in school! A little gentle focus onto returning to school and dusting off those key skills will be extremely rewarding and important for all pupils.
This will be posted onto the Class Page under the 'Children' tab.
I am delighted to inform you that we will still be offering excellent, hot nutritious meals from September cooked by our own cook, Mrs Mozley. She will be preparing our meals at another local kitchen and these lunches will be delivered hot to our school. We have arranged a super menu for pupils, with a vegetarian option available.
Due to the restrictions surrounding Coronavirus, the delivery of all school meals has had to be changed as pupils need to remain within their own bubble or pod and large groupings are not permitted. Therefore meals will be served directly to the classroom.
The price of a school meal has increased to £2.20 per day, with a full week costing £11.00. I am currently working to establish a cashless system for our school. This may be ready for our September opening (Friday 4th September). If it is not, we will be taking cash in a sealed envelope or bag until the system is up and running.
May I remind parents of Year 3 pupils that universal free school meals do not apply to junior children and you may need to pay. If you think you may be entitled to free school meals, please contact the school and Mrs Clarke will check for you.
A copy of the menu can be found in the Parents tab - click and search for 'Lunch Menu and Payments' section.
The school is has now been made waterproof and it is all systems go! The builders are working on the internal procedures. This includes fixing the rooms, ceilings, pipe work and then the external services will need connecting. This is a big job and will take the next 2 weeks to complete.
However I can now release some photographs to give you an idea of how this will look. As you will see, the building will look and feel very much a permanent structure.
We will then need to furnish and prep the rooms for return of pupils.
There is a lot of work to be completed but we are all looking forward to our new start in September.
