  • Collection of personal items

    Thu 19 Mar 2020 RWilmot

Thank you to those parents who have supplied a bag for children to collect their possessions. If you have forgotten, please supply one for tomorrow.

On Friday afternoon, before we close, we will be sorting these items with your child so that they can bring them home - jumpers, PE kits, water bottles, lunch boxes, pencil cases etc.

For those who have children at home, we will be bagging up these items for your child and you can attend on Friday afternoon from 2p.m. to collect them if you are NOT self-isolating.There may be quite a few people in this situation, so you will need to be patient so that we can attend to you in a safe, controlled manner.

We will also be sending a pack of work home with each child on Friday.  Again, if your child is at home, you can collect a pack on Friday afternoon from 2 p.m. as long as you are NOT self-isolating.

DO NOT ATTEND SCHOOL IF YOU HAVE A TEMPERATURE/FEVER OR A NEW, DRY, PERSISTENT COUGH OR ARE ALREADY IN THE PROCESS OF SELF-ISOLATING.

  • Urgent update

    Wed 18 Mar 2020 RWilmot

As you may have heard, the government is to close schools from the end of the day on Friday this week (20th March). This will be for the majority of children until further notice.

There are very few practical guidelines for how this will occur but schools are being asked to make provision for children who have parents who work in key roles - this list of roles will be provided to schools in the next few days. We will then be contacting all families to ask if  you are included in this list and if you will still want your child to attend school. Some provision will also be occurring for vulnerable children (the criteria is to be outlined by the government in the next few days).

We expect this to be a small number of pupils.

I am aware this will be very difficult but we are unable to offer childcare to other sector workers.

This is a significant development and, at this time, we have very little information as to how this will work.

Harrington will be open tomorrow and Friday as usual. Panda Club will continue this week - I shall make enquiries regarding future provision.

As soon as we know more details, we will communicate this to you. Your patience is appreciated and greatly needed at the crucial, distressing time.

  • Procedures to help

    Wed 18 Mar 2020 RWilmot

From tomorrow, classroom doors will open at 8:55 a.m. to allow pupils to access straight into school without the need for them or families to wait on the playground. We hope this will support families by preventing the need to gather. Please bring your child between 8:55-9:00 a.m. to make use of this.

Also, we will altering our assembly input from a  whole school gathering to class assemblies and discussions. Celebration certificates will still be awarded on Fridays.

We are currently working to supply work for pupils who are currently at home due to self-isolating.

  • New guidance for self-isolation

    Tue 17 Mar 2020 RWilmot

Yesterday the government announced new measures for the public to adhere to.

Any pupils/families who are self-isolating now need to do this for 14 days. This is to reduce the risk of spreading the illness and to keep ALL people safe. Your co-operation is expected and is valued and much appreciated. We understand the upset and frustration this may cause but would ask all parents to work with us during these difficult circumstances.

  • Urgent school update

    Mon 16 Mar 2020 RWilmot

Please refer to the newsletter section for the update regarding the impact arising from coronavirus.

    Parents evening has been postponed.

Please help to reduce to footfall into school by using the dojo or telephone to communicate with school in order to avoid needing to visit the school.

We continue to take advise from the government, Department for Education and Public Health and will use the website and dojo to update you.

  • Coronavirus update

    Fri 13 Mar 2020 RWilmot

In light of the advice from the government, the Department for Education and Public Health please read the document regarding the latest advice - you will find this in the newsletter section of the website.

School will remain open until we receive further advice or notification. To ensure we keep everyone as safe as possible, some non-essential events may need to be postponed. Whilst this may be disappointing, it is sensible to minimise the number of people accessing the building. Your co-operation and understanding is appreciated.

Please inform the school of any new coughs/flu-like medical conditions.
