  • Year 6 picnic

    Fri 17 Jul 2020 RWilmot

As Tuesday 21st July is our last day at school, and for Year 6 their last day at Harrington forever, we are going to hold an extended lunch for a socially distanced picnic. Pupils can either just bring their lunch or some additional snacks/drinks to eat for a picnic type experience.

We have already signed tops and done autographs in March so this will not be permitted as pupils will be wearing their own clothes and this level of close proximity is not allowed under the COVID-19 regulations. Pupils will be released from school at the usual time.

    Thank you for your support.

    Mrs Wilmot

  • What a lovely catch-up!

    Fri 17 Jul 2020 RWilmot

It was lovely to see so many of our Year 3 and Year 5 pupils come back to school to meet the staff from their old classes. Pupils have been meeting their class mates and staff for a 25 minute catch up session - catching up on news, what people have been doing and plans for the summer. It was lovely to see so many happy children and I think it made a big impact on all of us.

Today we will welcome the children from Year 4 for their time with us before the summer holiday.

  • Invite for Year 2 pupils to meet Year 3 staff

    Tue 14 Jul 2020 RWilmot

On Monday 20th July we are inviting Year 2 pupils to attend for an introductory session lasting for 25 minutes. This will allow children to meet the Year 3 team and to pick up their summer resource pack (if one has been ordered). I realise that this is a small gesture but I feel it is important for us to meet, even if for a very short period of time.

The meeting will take place in a marquee/large gazebo as we have no indoor premises available. Pupils can only attend in groups of 15 and, for ease of organisation, this will be in their existing classes. The meeting will last for 25 minutes.

Due to Coronavirus regulations, only pupils will be able to access the area; only one adult should bring their child and they will need to wait in the outside area or in their car until the meeting is finished. Harrington Junior School will still be open and in operation with Year 6 and key worker children in attendance.

Pupils will be given a time to attend and should report to the brick single-storey building at the top of the campus drive where you will be met by staff. Please do not drive up the drive as this will create a health and safety issue.

If you wish your child to attend, you will need to book into a time slot relevant for your existing class by sending an email to headteacher@harrington.derbyshire.sch.uk. Only 15 pupils are allowed in any one group.

Times available on Monday 20th July:

    Class 6 Mrs Kilarski    10:00-10:25 /   10:30-10:55

    Class 5 Miss Wilson    11:00-11:25 /   11:30-11:55

We look forward to meeting you.

    Sun 12 Jul 2020 RWilmot

  • Class farewells

    Sat 11 Jul 2020 RWilmot

We are hoping to host a final session for all pupils to meet their old class teacher and say goodbye. It will give a chance for pupils to come together to share news, to collect summer resources (if ordered) and to pick up their school report.

This is an offer but not compulsory as we realise that some families are still shielding. We apologise if this date/time is not convenient but we are limited to what we can offer. Pupils/families who cannot attend will be able to collect reports and summer resources either on Wednesday 22 July or Thursday 23 July during the morning.

    Times:

    Wed 15th July Y3 - Mr Dutton 10-10:25/10:30-10:55  Miss Bethell  11-11:25/11:30-11:55

    Th 16th July Y5-Mrs McHale 10-10:25/10:30-10:55 Miss Woodroffe 11-11:25/11:30-11:55

    Fri 17th July Y4 - Miss Surla  10-10:25/10:30-10:55  Miss Williams 11-11:25/11:30-11:55

If you wish your child to attend you MUST book a place with the class teacher via the class dojo. Groups cannot exceed 15 pupils at a time. Please send a dojo to the class teacher to confirm you wish your child to attend and the time you would prefer if a space is available.

  • Back to school in September

    Sat 11 Jul 2020 RWilmot

It is our aim to have all pupils returning to school on Friday 4th September. This is in line with the current recommendations for safe return.

It is, however, subject to change depending upon the government guidance regarding changes to the risk of transmission of Coronavirus and any increase in the R rate. I shall be sharing any updates or changes through the website 'Latest News' section throughout the summer.

  • Another note from Mrs Wilmot

    Tue 07 Jul 2020 RWilmot

Hello children. I have posted another note to you to tell you that we have moved back onto the campus. Look out for Cyril the squirrel!

You'll find it in the class pages section (Letters from staff) accessed from the 'Children' tab.

  • This week's home learning

    Tue 07 Jul 2020 RWilmot

Apologies that the home learning was not able to be put online yesterday. Unfortunately, we did not have online access yesterday.

As you may be aware, we moved locations on Friday and are now located back on campus in two blocks at Wilsthorpe School. We opened yesterday for our priority group children and also welcomed back 52 of our Year 6 children! It was lovely to see them all again!

That said, all things back to normal today - work is listed for this week.

Why not check out Mrs D's class page - this week it's all about dragons!
