Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
What a wonderful day we have had celebrating the amazing world of books π The ‘buzz’ in the playground, as the children came in to school today, was fantastic.
We finished the day with a marathon ‘book swap’ event that has seen every child in our school take home a book of their choice to read and enjoy. This would not have been possible without the generous donation of books from our families.
Thank you to everybody for making this an extra- special day
Tonight we are sending out a letter outlining a potential opportunity to book for activities at Easter.
The HAF spring 2024 holiday clubs will take place from Tuesday 2nd to Friday 12th April (excluding bank holidays and weekends).
Bookings open on Monday 11th March.
Please follow the steps and use the code in our letter to book as this is NOT something that is school-led provision.
Thank you.
What a fabulously busy first week back!
Year 5 began their new topic on Africa with an interactive enrichment opportunity with Unbeatable Energy and their drumming day on Wednesday.
All classes took part in our Maths Morning on Thursday - exploring and solving maths challenges and puzzles. This was really well received and we hope to continue with more events like this.
And to end the week, we have had some excellent progress in our swimming sessions with many children graduating to the next group or making some super progress in their own skills and confidence.
Don't forget clubs start next week - please return your forms to allow your child to attend.
Return your letter to enable us to arrange a parent evening appointment for you.
Thursday is World Book Day - join in the Book Token competition (make your own design) or create a book character from a potato!
Also arriving on Monday is our very own Drumba equipment - requested by the children following on from our interactive workshop. Looking forward to hearing the beats ringing out from the hall soon!
Wowww! A huge well done and thank you to all those who participated in our STEAM competition! π€© We were absolutely blown away by the amount of fantastic entries we had yesterday, and our judges from Trent College and The Elms were amazed too. Our judges found it extremely difficult to choose winners and runners up due to the dedication and creativity shown in all entries. Each child will receive a participation certificate, with our winners and runners up being announced later this week π Thank you to all families who have supported their children during this competition - it has been a fantastic turn out with over 40 entries across the school.
Happy half term Harrington families ….. another busy week nearly comes to an end ….. REMINDER that it is our Inset day tomorrow so school will be closed to pupils.
Letters have come home about our World Book Day event that will take place on Thursday 7th March.
We will be hosting our very own book swap during that afternoon- so please have a look at home over the half term holiday to see if there are any books your children no longer read, so that they can bring these books into school after the holiday to be swapped.
There will be a box placed outside each classroom for the books to be collected.
We are also running two competitions ( details on the letter)
We look forward to seeing some of their entries
Good morning Harrington families…. Just to let you know, it is our Classics week this week …. Year 3 and Year 4 are studying ‘Skimbleshanks ‘ and ‘The Railway cat ‘ while year 5 and year 6 are studying ‘The Railway children’… we will be posting some of their work on here this week for you to see…
Just a reminder about our STEAM competition, open for all year groups. Miss Patel from The Elms came to launch this competition a couple of weeks ago, in association with our local STEM Hub.
The theme of this year’s competition is ‘connections’ and the children have been challenged to produce a 2D or 3D creation using any materials and mediums to bring their project to life. The competition ends on Monday 26th February where staff from Harrington and The Elms will judge the entries - please ensure entries are handed in and clearly labelled on this day! A letter was sent out with some more information on a couple of Mondays ago βΊοΈ
We are thoroughly looking forward to seeing this year’s entries. Prizes will be awarded to a winner and a runner up from each year group π€©
Lovely to have everyone back to school.
We are back in the swing and have started our new topics.
Y3 are studying how the body works, Y4 explore the Vikings. Year 5 are taking a trip into space and Year 6 journey to Middle Earth as they explore the Hobbit.
We are looking forward to a packed term full of different learning opportunities! Look out for our newsletter later this week.
Reminder for your calendar too:
Our next Inset day is set for Friday 16th February when school will be closed to pupils.
Half term is the week commencing 19th February and we return on Monday 26th February.
Good morning and Happy New Year to you all.
Term starts again tomorrow and we look forward to welcoming all our pupils and families back to school.
