Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Tonight we are sending home information, usernames and passwords for families of Y3 pupils to have the option to connect to Parent Pay (an electronic method of paying for meals and trips at school). You do not have to use this system - we will still be taking cash for those who prefer this. The information will be found in a letter in their reading record.
As is traditional now at Harrington, we will be having a cake sale on
MONDAY 30th SEPTEMBER at 3.30pm.
Due to popular demand this will now be at 3.30pm to enable as many families to support this tremendous charity as possible. Sadly, most people in our school community have been affected by cancer in one way or another and this event helps us all to show our support and enjoy a yummy piece of cake!
We would like to ask for donations of cakes to be brought to school on the morning of the 30th September.
These can be shop bought (in their wrappers) or homemade with a full list of ingredients please. STRICTLY NO NUTS PLEASE. We will send more details and reminders nearer the time but would really appreciate you letting us know below if you feel able to donate cakes or biscuits for this important event.
Thank you in advance from the Harrington Family
Well done to all the Year 5 pupils on their first swimming session today. We've had all pupils in the water to see how confident they are, with everyone doing a great job. Lots of energy and smiles!
Full lessons start new week.
To Year 6 families:
Look out for the opportunities to look round your next schools - open evenings dates and times have been sent out to you.
You need to make an application for secondary school online by 31st October.
We invite all parents/carers to our first parents evening to ‘Meet the Teacher’ at school to commence our partnership work with you. This will take place on Wednesday 18th September (6:00p.m for Y3 and Y5; 6:45- 7:30p.m. for Y4 and Y6). This will give you a chance to meet the staff, see the classrooms and have an overview of what is to be taught, including news on the curriculum and timetable. We encourage all families to attend.
Please note: this is an adult only appointment.
A warm welcome back to school for our new academic year 2024-25 for all our families, new and old. We are looking forward to having the children back and getting back into the swing again!
Calling anyone who would be interested to help work regarding the strategic plans for the school. We are looking to elect two new parent governors to join our existing governing body.
As this role has very specific parameters, we would like to hold some meetings to discuss the role and clarify the expectations of this work. If you are interested, please contact Mrs Wilmot for further details.
Well done to our Year 5 netball team who attended the netball festival at Trent College today. Some great play was seen and everyone raised their game throughout the competition, with a fabulous win in our final game.
Thanks also to the team who have been training with the children. Lovely to see many of the parents supporting too!
We still have debris on the parking area so there is less space as usual and there may be machinery present in there over the next few days as this is removed. Parents should use this area at their own risk until this has been cleared.
URGENT UPDATE - Despite having most of the tree damage and branches cleared, there has continued to be further damage and destruction throughout the day due to the excessive swirling wind. I have inspected the area at 2:30 p.m. today and, as a consequence, the parking area will need to remain closed due to health and safety reasons.
As these conditions are expected for the next few hours, we are asking parents NOT to enter the campus by car or foot via Derby Road but to use the safer Briar Gate access route. Please use the roads around the school if you need to park and walk onto the campus.
We will inspect the area tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m and will update you accordingly.
