  • Welcome back reminders

    Tue 05 Nov 2024 RWilmot

Welcome back to Harrington for Term 2.

As it turns colder and darker, a few reminders:

    1. Parent lunch tomorrow for Year 3 and Year 6 family members - gates open at 11:45 - 12:05. Y3 families will be served at 11:45, Y6 at 12:00.
Family members should report to the main office to meet their child.
Gates close promptly at 12:05 and anyone who is late will need to access the school via Derby Road.
    2. Please ensure your home collection arrangements are clear. We cannot let any pupils leave with persons that we do  not know or we have not had your direct permission to allow to collect. Please ensure you ring school to let us know.
    3. Attendance regulations have changed. All pupils will now receive a letter stating their attendance rate for last term. The target is 95% or above. These letters will be out this week.
    4. School must be notified of any pupil who is to be absent with details as to the reason. Please send a dojo or call between 8:15-9:30.
    5. The days are colder so please ensure your child comes in a coat. Gloves and a hat will be useful but please label all clothing items.
    6.  Inhalers - please check to ensure your child has an in-date inhaler and is bringing it to school every day. The movement between cold outdoors and warm classrooms can be a trigger for asthma issues. This also applies to Y5 swimmers on Fridays. Asthmatic pupils can be refused to swim if they do not have their inhaler with them in line with DCC regulations.

It's going to be a busy term so make sure you are keeping up-to-date with the dojo or news section on the website.

    Thu 24 Oct 2024 RWilmot

The Year 5 team planned an exciting day this week giving pupils a flavour of Ancient Greece. A fun day was had by all with drama, architecture and ancient maths as some of the activities. Well done on bringing the curriculum to life!

  • Walk like an Egyptian!

    Wed 23 Oct 2024 RWilmot

Well, this is exactly what the Year 4 pupils did on Wednesday! It began with a tomb experience and ended with the creation of clay canopic jars. Many of the children dressed up and you can see the photos of the day on the dojo account.

Well done to you all for being part of such a fun learning experience

  • Harvest thanks

    Tue 22 Oct 2024 RWilmot

Thank you for all the Harvest donations.

Our special assembly is due this afternoon, led by our Year 3 pupils.

After this, we will be distributing the Harvest gifts within the community via our local food bank.

  • Diwali day In Year 5

    Mon 21 Oct 2024 RWilmot

Mrs A brought the excitement of Diwali to share with the pupils in Year 5. The children worked with her to paint diva lamps which will be taken to her house to use in her family's celebration. She then spend many a moment with care creating beautiful henna designs for the children and staff.

We wish everyone a Happy Diwali for next week.

  • Macmillan Fundraising news

    Fri 18 Oct 2024 RWilmot

Thank you to everyone who supported this charity event - we managed to raise £258! Mrs Willsher has taken this to the post office to pledge on behalf of the school. Our certificate will be put on display in our school foyer as soon as it arrives. Many thanks.

  • Harvest donations

    Fri 18 Oct 2024 RWilmot

Next Tuesday is our Harvest festival - a lovely celebration led by our Year 3 pupils.
We would like to create a harvest table of food donations. This could be a tin of food, a carton of custard, some apples or veg or even a packet of biscuits. If every child brought bring in just one item, we will be able to provide many lovely hampers to donate to worthy causes in our community such as our local elderly residents, churches and food banks. Any donations can be brought to school for our harvest table from tomorrow.
We will then arrange to have the 'gifts' distributed by the end of term.
Many thanks for supporting this good cause.

  • Thanks for your support

    Mon 30 Sep 2024 RWilmot

Thank you to everyone who supported our cake sale for the Macmillan's coffee morning appeal this evening. Despite the rain, lots of you turned out to buy the cakes and biscuits to raise funds for this worthwhile cause.
Many thanks for all the donations and for our super volunteers (and staff) who helped to organise, sort and sell the cakes.
We'll let you know how much we raise.
