Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We end the week with yet another sporting success as some of our netball players took part in the annual netball festival at Trent College this afternoon. A special mention to one of our team members who won the title of 'best defender'. A big thank you to Mrs D and Jaimie for taking and supporting the pupils. who represented the school so well.
The sunny weather might be encouraging you to think about buying school uniform for the summer term. ALL clothes must be suitable for school - please make sure dresses, skirts and shorts are thigh length (NO SHORTER). Some shops sell some very short items with some shorts resembling hot pants and they are simply not appropriate to wear as uniform and can cause embarrassment for pupils when in a class full of other children. Please be aware when making purchases - many thanks for your co-operation.
Don't forget, pupils come back to school on Tuesday 22nd April as the Monday is Easter Monday. Enjoy the break - let's hope the sunshine lasts!
We were delighted to welcome back members from Crawfords, Agricultural Consultants who work with NFU Mutual (National Farmers Union) who led some farming workshops with our Y3 pupils. Lots of new foods were samples, as well as looking at the importance of farming, arable and livestock, as well as fair trade. The children really enjoyed the first hand experience of handling and tasting the new products.
We have had 2 days of skateboarding here at Harrington as we welcomed our coaching team back again. All pupils had the chance to learn this skill, with co-ordination, energy and bravery as they took on this challenge. The sun shone and the pupils had a great, fun time experiencing a new trendy sport.
What a fabulous start to the term - we had our swimming squad out at the local swim gala at West Park this morning. The team did a terrific job, with girls coming 4th and boys securing the top spot of 1st place. Overall we were just pipped to finish second out of all the teams. Well done to the pupils who represented the school so well. You were amazing!
What a spectacular day!
There isn't much that makes me speechless but our Y5 pupils showcased their talents in a cross curriculum performance based on the story of Joseph that was simple EPIC!
Music, drama, reading, art and RE were all brought together in the beautiful venue of Trinity Church. We were so proud of our pupils and thank all the families who managed to attend.
Today, our Y3 children took part in an inter-school competition in dodgeball. We created 8 teams and, in association with the Erewash School Sports Partnership ran the event during the afternoon for pupils to be active, competitive and to show their teamwork skills. A highly energetic and fun afternoon had by all! Well done!
It was lovely to see so many of our families come to parents evening over that last 2 days. Thank you for attending to continue our partnership work - I hope you were pleased with the amount of work your child has created and across the many subjects you would have been able to see in their books. We also managed to fit in a feedback session regarding the new format for the pupil school report - I shall set about creating the final format from the feedback we received.
Thank you also for the positive feedback left and your many comments praising our school.
Our Year 5 pupils and staff went to see the Wilsthorpe production of Mary Poppins. Well done to all the student s and staff connected with this super show - and a chance for our pupils to take some tips as we look forward to our own creative performance next week.
