  • Flu immunisation programme 2020 - reminder

    Fri 06 Nov 2020 RWilmot

We still have about 50 families who have not completed their flu permission online.

This needs to be completed even if you do NOT want your child to be immunised as it will register your negative choice.

This needs to be completed prior to Monday 16th November

Please use the link found in the news item dated 15th October (see below)

The school nurse team will still be attending school to provide this service.

Any families who have received a letter regarding the flu immunisation programme should ignore the letter and complete the online registration to give permission. This letter is NOT needed to be presented to the nurses - it has been a clerical error.

  • Welcome Back

    Tue 03 Nov 2020 RWilmot

Welcome back to all our pupils for Term 2.

It has been lovely to see so many pupils back and we are looking forward to starting our new topics.

Please remember the day your child needs to come in their PE kit (warm tracksuit PLUS SCHOOL JUMPER/TOP) as we hope to pack in as many outdoor PE lessons as possible before the weather changes. To remind you, we no longer have the benefit of a school hall if it is too wet.

With the upcoming new lockdown can we remind all families (adults and children) to adhere to the rules and keep their distance from other families. Please be vigilant for any symptoms and help to keep all pupils and staff as safe as is possible. If your child is unwell, please do not send them to school. Keep them off, monitor the symptoms. If you have concerns, use the NHS hotline by ringing 111 or visit the NHS website.

Your co-operation is vital and very much appreciated.

  • Registering for flu immunisation

    Thu 15 Oct 2020 RWilmot

Earlier this term, we provided a link for parents to go online to register their child to access the flu immunisation programme at school.

Since then, we have been contacted by the NHS who have identified that some parents have encountered a problem. A new link has been provided and can be found at:

    https://www.derbyshireandcityimms.co.uk/Forms/Flu

Please be aware that there is no QR code with this link.

If you have not already completed this online form, you will need to do this urgently as our date for the nurses to attend school to give the flu nasal spray is Monday 16th November.

Without consent, your child will not be given it.

  • Reminder of Inset day

    Wed 14 Oct 2020 RWilmot
Our next Inset day is Friday 23rd October.
  • Coronavirus update

    Tue 13 Oct 2020 RWilmot

As the rate of infection are rising, we are seeing more pupils and their families being affected and concerned. We are asking all pupils and parents to think hard about their behaviour and actions so that we can try to keep our school as safe as we can.

    1. Only one person is allowed onto site to deliver/collect pupils. Any other people should wait outside of the school grounds.

    2. Pupils who attend Wilsthorpe or other schools off campus are not allowed onto to our playground at the end of the day. After being in another school environment, this increases the risk of cross contamination. The exception is Parklands as the risk for transmission from younger children is considered to be lower.

    3. Do not congregate in groups when on campus - the rule of 6 still applies and this should be 6 from 2 households. The groups who continue to gather across 3 or 4 families will be moved on. You cannot wait for other family groups whilst on school grounds.

    4. Please refrain from touching, hugging children from other households/school bubbles. We work really hard to keep pupils separate during the school day. This maintains as safe an environment as we can - please do your part to support this.

    5. The school cannot support any foreign travel at this time and any parent planning this will need to speak to Mrs Wilmot regarding the COVID-19 risk assessment and procedures that apply to our school.

    6. No-one (adult or child) should attend school if they feel unwell and have any COVID-19 symptoms.

    7. If anyone tests positive in your family, you should all isolate immediately. Please contact the school on 07395 161190 to arrange for collection of your children.

(the old landline number is not available to use due to it being damaged in the fire).

The school can help support you if you feel your child is showing symptoms - please ring and ask to speak to Mrs Wilmot.

  • Autumn Book Fair

    Thu 01 Oct 2020 RWilmot

From tomorrow we will be hosting our autumn book fair.

This year things will be organised slightly differently. Each class will get the chance to visit per day, one class at a time in order to maintain our class bubbles. Books that are purchased will be bagged and kept safe for 72 hours before being sent home. All book cases will be thoroughly deep cleaned each evening.

If your child wishes to buy a book, they should bring money in a named envelope.

To find out some of the books that are available, please see the 'pre-browsing choices' form in the newsletter section.

  • Update information sheets

    Thu 24 Sep 2020 RWilmot

Tonight we will be sending out a new starter/update form and a new home-school agreement to replace the documents we lost in the fire.

All families need to complete these two forms and return to school as soon as possible. Your co-operation is appreciated.
