  • URGENT UPDATE - Weather warning

    Thu 08 Jan 2026 RWilmot

As you will be aware, the Met Office have given an amber weather warning for the Midlands for Thu-Fri this week due to the heavy snow forecast and freezing temperatures.

Whilst we make every effort to remain open during snow, we also need to ensure it is safe for pupils and staff to access the site. Considerations are many, not just how much snow has fallen - safe travel for all, safe access, sufficient adult ratios for health and safety, surface conditions (ice), functioning kitchen with staff, ambient temperature (it has to feel considerably colder with the wind chill factor) etc. The site may look safe but may actually be full of black ice. Any decision made will be on the conditions at the time of assessment – we are unable to predict what conditions may be like further into the day.

Conditions will be assessed on Friday morning, with a joint decision taken by 7:00a.m by Mrs Wilmot and Mrs Callaghan from Parklands. Please be aware, this will also impact upon any Premier Wrap-Around Care bookings.

We will continue to monitor conditions for early next week, as we have the forecast of a second potential wave of extreme weather (but hopefully to be a lesser degree).

Please note, if the schools are open, the expectation is for all pupils to attend.

  • Welcome back to 2026

    Mon 05 Jan 2026 RWilmot

Good afternoon and Happy New Year to you all!
Despite being a chilly first day back, we have all settled back in to the routines of school life. Our focus this term will be be working to be motivated to achieve our targets and goals, whether academic, social or personal.
The teachers have been planning the new topics and we are working on providing more creative opportunities for learning. Please look out for information regarding after school clubs and events - posted soon on the dojo.
If you have changed your mobile phone over the holiday, please update us of any change of numbers as we are currently updating our pupil records. Tomorrow has to be another cold one and could be icy - please ensure your child has a warm coat, hat and gloves and allow yourself extra time to get to school safely and on time for both drop-off and collection times.

  • Reindeer Charity Dash

    Mon 24 Nov 2025 RWilmot

Thank you for volunteering for your child to be part of our Reindeer Dash, to support and raise funds for Treetops. We now have well over 100 people joining in!
The dash will commence at 2:45pm for pupils in Y3 and Y4 and at 3:00pm for pupils in Y5 and Y6.
Pupils should come to school in, or bring, trainers for the event. As the weather forecast has to be mixed, our dash may need to be around the school perimeter if wet. Staff will be on hand to guide you as to the route. Any adult joining in this event will need to come 5-10 minutes before the start time to meet their child in the school hall.
In order for this event to run smoothly, adult access to school will be from Derby Road only. Canal Street will not be open. Adults will congregate in the hall to meet their child prior to the start of the dash. We ask that people understand that this is not a race and aim for all to participate safely, respecting all the other participants.
Before your dash commences, Treetops have supplied a free set of antlers for you to wear whilst completing this charity event.
Please could you bring your collected sponsor money on the day, Monday 1st December, as it will help us collate funds raised and allow us to provide certificates to our many participants. Staff will collect any sponsor forms and money either at the start of the day in assembly or in the hall prior to the event.
We hope we can raise money, however small each donation may be, to collate into an amazing Christmas gesture to help and support this worthwhile local charity.
