  • Term 3

    Mon 16 Jan 2023 RWilmot

Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a good break.

A few reminders for this term:

1.Please ensure your child has a warm, waterproof coat every day. Perhaps even gloves and a hat this term as the weather can be bitter and unpredictable.

2.Please get your child back in to the routine of school - uniform, reading, homework, good sleep routines and attending every day (health permitting).

3.Update school of any personal changes - parent mobile numbers, address changes, personal circumstances

4.We will be offering the option to move to cashless payment for meals and trips - look out for the letter this week.

5.Snacks need to be healthy and nut-free. To allow pupils to get their snacks quickly at break time, they will be handed in at registration for quick retrieval. This will also prevent children from eating parts of their lunch too early!

6.Please talk to your child about online conduct. Some pupils are becoming involved in inappropriate exchanges online via group chats and this is leading to some unpleasant comments and language. Whilst I am aware all pupils can recite how to behave, both socially and online and this is an out-of-school incident, it doesn't always happen in reality. And no -one wants children upset and distressed due to such chats as this can occur when pupils feel school and parents will not find out. We will continue to work on this theme in school. Your support is appreciated.

  • Final message of 2022

    Tue 20 Dec 2022 RWilmot

Our last day today before we break up for the holiday. The children have been fantastic, despite all the excitements of parties, Christmas lunches and the special events we have arranged this term.
Coming early next term is the latest progress report for your child and details of ParentPay (a cashless system  to pay for school lunches and trips) that we wish to activate in January. Details to follow about how to sign up to this if you choose to.
Reminder that we return to school on Monday 9th January 2023.

From all the staff and governors, I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful 2023.

A big thank you to all who contributed to our recent find raising for Macmillan and Young Minds charities. We managed to raise £200 which will be evenly split between the two charities. Many thanks to Mrs Willsher and her fantastic volunteers for selling cakes and to everyone who donated.

  • Year 4 goes all Egyptian for the day!

    Thu 13 Oct 2022 RWilmot

What a spectacular sight to see this morning! Many of the Year 4  pupils dressed as Egyptians for their special enrichment day. They have been very busy exploring tombs, making canopic jars, writing tomb diaries and working out Egyptian numbers and messages. What an experience - fun as well as learning. Well done to all involved.

  • Parent evening update

    Wed 12 Oct 2022 RWilmot

Tonight is parent evening for those who have an appointment. Please use either the gate from Canal Street and enter the school via the side doors off the small playground - the hall is straight in front and here you will find your child's books to look through. Or come up the drive, onto the playground and enter directly into the hall through the glass doors. The teachers will collect you for your appointment.
Don't forget to fill in the questionnaire and leave a note for your child.
We look forward to meeting up with you later today.

If you originally had an appointment for yesterday's Tuesday parents evening, we will be re-hosting these meetings next Tuesday (18th October) with the same times.

  • The new school year approaches!

    Wed 24 Aug 2022 RWilmot

Good morning everyone. Welcome back to the Harrington website!

We are now in our countdown to returning, with just 2 weeks to go and we couldn't have a more busy time here on site.

On Monday, staff were able to come to see the new school as it nears completion, only  few more jobs and snags to sort. It's really exciting and we are so looking forward to showing it to you. The temporary school is being taken away and the grounds are beginning to take shape.

I am posting a 'Useful Information for Parents' as a reminder for existing parents and to help the new parents. You will find this in the newsletter section under the 'News and Events' tab. We return on Monday 5th September - Years 4,5 and 6 need to be on site for 8:55 a.m. with Year 3 arriving at 9:15 a.m. (no earlier please)

Please adhere to these times as we will still be having landscaping and playground work being carried out so access onto site will need to be controlled.

Please use the gate either from Canal Street or via the school drive. Staff will be there to assist and direct you. Year 4,5 and 6 pupils will leave parents at the gates. Year 3 parents will be allowed to enter once the other children have exited the playground at 9:15 a.m.

We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
